If this support has been loosened from the treads, put them in place using wood blocks or shims. When there is no existing center support for the stairs, add one. This will ensure that the stairs can be stable even when sagging occurs in the middle. This support underneath it will hold it in place and prevent it from sagging further.
When different wood surfaces are rubbing against each other, a squeaky sound will be produced when the staircase is used. Fix this by adding wood shims placed between the treads and the risers. These shims will prevent the rubbing between the treads and the risers. Powdered graphite can be used when the newly installed or repaired stairs squeaks very bad.
These are some steps that can be taken to have an immediate solution on sagging stairs. Fixing sagging staircases should not be that expensive it just needs a little handiwork and patience to do the trick.
