Make the Most of Your Master Bedroom

Either waking up in the morning or coming back from work or school, the bedroom is the first thing everyone sees and goes to. The bedroom is the one of the most important places to start and end the day right, so having an appealing and relaxing bedroom is essential to one’s well-being.

To put up a zest into one’s master’s bedroom doesn’t necessarily mean hiring a professional and shouldn’t be a major renovation. Listed below are some innovative and practical means of spicing or lightening up a master’s bedroom:

Clean and Organize. For a place to feel restive and peaceful should be a place where there is order and cleanliness. To make a bedroom a desirable space for refuge, start off by having a practical and reliable storage system. When there is less surface space, go vertical, stackable drawers and storage baskets are not costly and are the most effective means. Wall-mount bedside shelves, built-in wall storage and bedside bookcase can be used for storing everyday used items. Drawer with dividers can clean up the clutter and keep smaller items organized.

Remember to categorize items when storing and organizing them by their frequency of use. For regularly used items consider storing them in a place where it is easily accessed. Remove or dispose unneeded items to give more space for the more necessary items.

Dress up the Bed. There’s nothing more to start the day right by waking up refreshed and rejuvenated. A well-made bed that looks and feels good can be achieved by having a little upgrade on the linens, pillows and beddings. Colors and textures have a huge impact in the whole look of a bed. Choose colors that match both one’s personal style and that can blend in with the surrounding walls and furniture. For a more relaxing atmosphere one can choose cool hues like blue, green or white. Floral or coral patterns can also be incorporated with these colors. Loud colors and modern or retro themed beds can also actually be used, it all just depends on one’s own preference.  But to have a more clean and organized color combination, limit the pattern palette to one solid and two contrasting patterns.

Wall color update. Changing one’s wall color can automatically bring life to a master bedroom assuming the right colors or hues are used. So before grabbing that paintbrush, study the paint color that’s really appropriate for the master bedroom. The color should harmonize with existing furniture, beddings, linens, pillows and curtains. It should also compliment with the color of the floor and ceiling of the master bedroom. Aside from this, choosing the right wall color should always reflect one’s personal style and in which he or she is comfortable with. Another factor to consider is the bedroom area, when it has a smaller area try using cool colors like lavender, green and blue hues. These colors can make a space look wider and airy, plus it adds a serene and calm atmosphere. When it is a large master bedroom one may opt in using warm colors like earth colors or loud colors, this can make the room cozy and

Make sure to minimize glossy finish on wall paints, this may add too much reflection and glare to the bedroom area.

Bedroom lighting can either give a dramatic effect or make an uncomfortable atmosphere. There are number of ways and techniques to achieve a well illuminated master bedroom. First is to identify the areas of the bedroom where lighting is needed. Bedside and study tables are the usual points in the bedroom where task-specific lighting is needed and desk lamps are perfect for these areas. Dimmers and sconces can add a dramatic effect on bedroom spaces. Dimmers are perfect for bedrooms because the intensity can be easily controlled. Vanity and mirror areas should be well-lit but lighting fixtures should be strategically placed so not to create glare when used.

Don’t forget to have natural lighting. This should also be incorporated with artificial illumination without interference or glare on both sides.

Indulge in luxury. Aim for a look and feel that’s not only comfortable but also looks plush and high-end.

Soft fabrics like cotton or silk pillows or sheets can make a difference compared to ordinary fabrics. Add pillows with different shapes and sizes and curtains to block away glare.

Let nature into your bedroom space by placing plants or cut flowers. Wicker baskets as storage and holders can also add up into the homey feeling. Bring in the luxury. The more a bedroom looks lush and comfortable the more one loves to spend their time in it.
